Becoming a national digital bank
For 129 years, we’ve thought differently about how we service our customers and have proudly called WA home. We’re continuing this legacy.
Now, we're investing in becoming a digital bank by delivering simple products and new digital experiences, nationwide.
Many customers are already banking digitally
It’s important that we invest in areas which benefit our customers and we’ve seen that the majority of customers are preferring to bank digitally.^
97% of all Bankwest transactions now completed digitally.
Fewer than 2% of customers are visiting a branch regularly.
Branches are closed
After careful consideration, we made the decision to close the Bankwest branch network by October 2024, with 15 regional branches converting to CommBank branches.
As our Bankwest ATMs don’t operate off-premises, they are also now closed.
This change enables us to invest in the digital channels the majority of our customers are choosing to use to bank with us.

Support for customers who used branches
Regional branches converted to CommBank
15 regional Bankwest branches converted to CommBank branches to help ensure rural and regional areas have access to branch services.
There will be no changes to Bankwest customer accounts. We’ve worked with CommBank to simplify customer transitions if this option is right for them.

To help you feel confident and learn more about managing your banking digitally, you can join a Community Banking Workshop both online or in person if there is a session near you.

It’s important to us that we ensure our customers, especially our most vulnerable, are well supported with digital banking.
Customers who need help can discuss their situation with our Digital Experts over the phone or attend one of our Community Banking Workshops. Our workshops are available both online or in person at our Digital Hub.
Customers can continue to access our dedicated support channels and services.
There will be no impact to your bank accounts as a result of branch closures.
